The Expedition series of educational modules were developed by Planet Earth Science through funding from NASA. They can be freely downloaded (along with the educator's guide.)

Three "expeditions" to try include:
• Antarctic Expeditions: Ozone

  In this adventure, students are "hired" to determine if the size of the Antarctic ozone hole is increasing. Satellite images of ozone concentration and instructional movies are included. Download software (windows and Mac) and teachers guide (PDF) from this website. Recommended for middle school.
• Earth Expeditions: Global Warming

  Students are placed on a research vessel where they run computer climate models to predict how climate in regions around the world may change as the concentration of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere continues to rise. Computer climate models, a data center and instructional movies are located within the research center to assist them. • Pacific Expeditions: El Nino

The University of Colorado/CIRES developed this CD-ROM on climate and climate history in the Arctic, which uses real data and questions from the Greenland Ice Sheet Project Two. The CD is still available from NSIDC (order free copy online at address above)
